Meet the RuffHaus!

Adorned in real wood (no MDF here), the RuffHaus tows the line between functionality and style. Sporting clean lines, this beautiful wooden crate was designed to please.

Solidly built, with a thick wood floor and top, the light mahogany wood blends in with almost any décor. Unlike other dens and crates that are simply built with wire and a wood cover, the Ruffhas has thicker wire mesh that is bolted to the inner wood frame, making the den extremely sturdy and durable. Well ventilated and expertly designed, we tested the final Ruffhaus prototype in homes with dogs for months, before bringing it to you. If you’re looking to upgrade from your everyday dog crate to a lovely den that will please you and your dog, look no further than the RuffHaus.

Be Confident
DenHaus Dens meet and exceed high-end furniture quality. That means you can be confident that your dog is safe and your hot cup of coffee resting on top won't spill.

Composition and Construction

We use 100% sustainable, harvested pine and thick metal wire mesh for our RuffHaus. All wood is kiln-dried, a process that removes moisture from wood and ensures that it will not split, warp, crack or mildew.

1) It is important to get the right size to fit your décor and your pet! Measure your dog's height and length and write it down. That's right, grab the measuring tape, a piece of paper and pencil to make sure you get the right size! Or just use our handy PDF to record the measurements.

Measure height from CHIN to PAWS while dog is standing

Measure length from SHOULDERS/CHEST to REAR

2) Using your dog's height and length, compare it to the sizing chart (see below) to determine which size is right for you. Your dog needs to be able to walk in, turn around and lay down in his Den. Also, think about where the your Den will be placed in your home and the size of your furniture.

We recommend these sizes based on our experience. Beware if you buy a size too small your dog may feel cramped.

If your dog is close to the top of the measurement range provided, go for the larger size. If you have a puppy, go with the measurements of a full sized breed or largest breed in your mix.

Our first Den, the TownHaus, was born when founders Sarah and Chris adopted a spirited Redbone Coonhound, Amber. After staring too long at the ugly crate in their living room, they decided to put their woodworking skills to use to create something better.

The couple went to work designing a space for Amber that would give her the happy, comfortable and safe room she deserves and that would fit with their home’s décor and function as an end table. The design evolved as the pair discovered they needed to have a unique door design that would allow them to crate Amber and to have the door open for easy access.

After many friends asked where they could find this unique combination of dog crate and end table, Sarah began producing and selling the TownHaus in 2005.
Thank you Amber!
